Ken Saro-Wiwa’s story is essentially of a man who witnessed the destruction of his home by the Royal Dutch/Shell Company’s Nigerian subsidiary but still urged his people to peacefully resist the destruction of their home and to stand up for their rights without bloodshed.
Walter Cronkite, once considered the “most trusted man in America,” has passed away. His career led him around the world and in many people’s opinion epitomized what it meant to be a journalist and an anchor. It’s been a tough month for Marc Emery, first he has had to negotiate with the US government in the face of an extradition hearing and then he had to shut down Cannabis Culture Magazine because of escalating losses. Now, Emery faces yet another threat to his kingdom, this time from Vancouver City Hall.

On January 29th 2009, 25 year old Shinichi Suzukawa was arrested in Japan for the possession of marijuana. His arrest has brought to light the cannabis culture that has taken a hold of the island-nation.
The Japanese government has faced an increasingly problematic rise in marijuana use over the past few years. Faced with what it perceives to be an immense threat to its populace, the Japanese Government has instituted a major crack down on cannabis use in the hope of preventing it from spreading further.
The Japanese youth, eager to soak up anything American have taken to cannabis culture in increasing numbers, but lost in a society of neon, smoke, and towering monoliths, the truth of Japan’s history with marijuana may have become lost to this newer generation of Japanese.

An Melbourne-based doctor at the Royal Melbourne Hospital's neurology department stated that marijuana might be effective in easing the symptoms and pain of MS for sufferers. British company GW Pharmaceuticals, which specialises in developing cannabis-based prescription medicines, manufactures the spray called Sativex, which the doctor wants to push for trial.
